Mocktail Summer: The Andy
Oh hey, beverage girlies! A dear friend of mine sent me this recipe to add to my list for my mocktail journey, and wow, wow, wow, wow, WOW! It hit the spot. The flavoring is on point, the ginger beer gives it a bit of a kick, and it definitely has cool, fun girl connotations.
So for the name, another dear friend recommended naming the cocktails I create and test out after fun, cool girls to go with the fun, cool girl connotations that we are looking for with our mocktails. This cocktail is named “The Andy” after Andrea Carmichael from The Goonies. I have always loved the character of Andy, and secretly would love to be Andi and Brand for Halloween one year. Shhh, don’t tell Brian. She’s the cool girl at school but can also adventure to a hidden pirate ship.
Anyways, on to the recipe…
Ingredients:
blueberries
fresh mint
lime juice
honey
ice
ginger beer
Materials:
Blender
Cocktail Shaker
Low Ball Glass
Directions:
Add two parts blueberries, one part honey, and one part lime juice to a blender (I used 2 oz blueberries, 1 oz honey, and 1 oz lime juice). Blend together.
Add blended mixture, ice, and fresh mint to a cocktail shaker. Shake together.
Strain half of the mixture in the cocktail shaker over ice in a low ball glass. Top with ginger beer and garnish with fresh mint.
