Metz Get Dressed: Monochromatic
And just like that it is week three of #MetzGetDressed. If you’re wondering what is Metz Get Dressed, learn how it work here and check out week one and week two. This week let’s build a monochromatic outfit. All white, All black. All denim. All grey. You get the picture.
I’ve found that you can tend to overthink this when you feel like everything has to match perfectly, but similar to mixing patterns your clothes need to “go together.” They do not need to “match.” Here are some tips to help you build the perfect monochromatic outfit.

Stay in the same color scheme. Obviously to build a monochromatic outfit you need to stick with the same color family. If you choose to wear all tan, stay in the tan, nude, camel family to creative a cohesive outfit. It’s not about wearing the exact same color, but shades or hues of one color work well together.
Mix your textures. To keep the outfit interesting play with textures in the same color family. To keep it simple use no more than three textures - cotton, suede, silk or knit, denim and leather. This adds visual depth to your outfit.
Go neutral. Wearing a monochromatic outfit can be difficult to master. My favorite (and easiest) way to master this is by choosing a neutral shade. As you can see here, I went with an all black outfit. My other go-to’s are all white and all blue (I love a good denim on denim outfit).
I cannot wait to see what monochromatic outfits you build with your wardrobe this week. Let me see what you create by tagging me, @lindsaemetz, and using the hashtag, #metzgetdressed.
