Metz Get Dressed: Take a Risk

DSC06960.jpeg

Can y’all believe this is the sixth week of Metz Get Dressed? As always, if you’re new to Lindsae Metz check out how Metz Get Dressed works here and the style prompts for weeks one through five here.

This week is a bit different than past weeks as I am not offering a specific styling prompt. I am giving you permission to wear that thing in your closet you LOVE, but never wear because you don’t know how to style it, what to wear it with, think people will look at you weird or question why you are wearing said item, etc.

For me, it is my Goorin Bros Queen of Knives hat. I LOVE this hat so incredibly much. The moment I saw it online I called the Goorin Bros in Austin and had them place my size on hold for me until I could pick it up after work. However, I wear it maybe three times a year (and that’s on the high end).

Here are my tips to help you style the item you LOVE now:

  1. Think back to when you first bought the item. What about did you love? What look were you hoping to achieve when wearing the item? How did you see this item fitting in with your current style?

  2. Turn to Pinterest. Search keywords related to the item you love, but never wear and source style inspiration.

  3. Pick inspiration images containing similar articles of clothing you already own. The goal is to build an outfit around the item you love with articles of clothing you already have in your closet. We’re aiming to style things you already own with Metz Get Dressed (Yes, one of the ways to make money as a blogger is for my audience to purchase items through my links, but I also understand having a clothes budget and needing inspiration to make what I have feel new again).

  4. Go out and rock the item you love. This week!

I shared template on my Instagram stories for you to screen shot and share on your stories highlighting the item you love, but never wear. Then on your stories share an image of how you style the item.

Be sure to tag me, @LindsaeMetz, and use the hashtag, #MetzGetDressed, when sharing what you style this week. I cannot wait to see your item and how you style it.

xx,

Linds
