Metz Get Dressed: Black and Blue

Welcome to week seven of Metz Get Dressed. As always, if you’re new to Lindsae Metz, check out how Metz Get Dressed works here and weeks one through six here.

This week I want you to style navy and black together, and no, jeans do not count as navy. A few years ago, this color combo would have been met with a gasp “never” from me, but now it is one of my favorite combos. It has a distinct Parisienne vibe to it and if you’re like me you love the effortlessness of French girl style.

Together the two colors make appear tonal instead of appearing mismatched. Given this color combo has an almost monochromatic vibe it is best to not introduce other colors, neutrals or patterns to keep the look feeling cohesive. I’ve created a Pinterest board with my favorite navy and black combos for inspiration.

If this combo feels a bit too scary for you, try adding small details of one color to an outfit first. For example, wear a solid black or navy dress and add a belt and/or shoes in the other color. Or top off an all navy outfit with a black leather jacket. This option is low commitment as you can remove the jacket upon your arrival if you choose.

Be sure to tag me, @LindsaeMetz, and use the hashtag, #MetzGetDressed, when sharing what you style this week. I cannot wait to see how you break this fashion faux pas.

xx,

Linds
