Metz Get Dressed: Wear A Dress As A Skirt

DSC07630.jpeg

Here we are y’all! It’s the last week of Metz Get Dressed. As always if you don’t know what I am talking about check out how Metz Get Dressed works here and check out the last seven weeks here.

This week, let’s style a dress as a skirt. I see this done across Instagram all the time, and two years ago when Brian gifted me a closet consultant for my 30th (see my Tips from a Closet Consultant post) she showed me how to style tops over my dresses to create even more outfits.

Honestly, this is not something I consider as an option ever. I am very guilty of being stuck in the mindset that a dress is a dress and can only be worn as such. But this week I encourage each of you to style your favorite dress as a skirt. This is a great way to mix some of your favorite spring and summer styles with your winter wardrobe.

To pull this look off seamlessly, be sure to give yourself a waist.

  1. Wear a cropped length top or cardigan that stops at your natural waist line

  2. Knot a button up shirt at your natural waist line

  3. Knot or tie up a pull over top like a sweater (like I did here)

There is something about knotting a sweater at my waist and the color scheme I chose that makes me feel like an off duty ballerina.

Be sure to tag me, @LindsaeMetz, and use the hashtag, #MetzGetDressed, so I can see and share what you style on my stories.

xx,

Linds
