The Good Goods: January 2021

Geez, another month of the pandemic has flown by. As always, I am shocked that it is the next month. Time just keeps escaping me.

It’s been a minute since I’ve recapped some of my favorite purchases from the previous month. As someone who watches her spending like a hawk (this doesn’t mean I don’t make unnecessary spending choices), I love to look back on what I purchased and reflect on what felt like a good investment. In January, we purchased a few things from our wishlist, and I made some steps to improve the health of my hair and control what is starting to feel a bit like ADD.

Warm Fuzzies Sweatshirt | I love a good graphic sweatshirt. This one is so cozy on the inside, and I am really in a season of life where I need all the warm fuzzies. I’ve worn this sweatshirt at least ten times since it arrived on my doorstep.

Bluebird Cafe Documentary | Brian and I purchased this documentary on Amazon Prime for $4.26 last month and it gave me all the goosebumps. Like many people, I have an affinity for Nashville. I’ve been to the Bluebird Cafe once and it was the most magical experience. I truly love country music and to hear the stories behind the songs from the people who wrote them and hear the stripped-down versions just gives me all the warm fuzzies.

Together We Will See It Through Pennant | Since the pandemic started, this pennant has been on our house wishlist. When we drive around the city, we love pointing them out. It’s like our unofficial scavenger hunt. Now we can contribute to the scavenger hunt, and hopefully bring some joy to our neighborhood. It hangs in our front window.

Travel Jewelry Wallet | For years, and I mean YEARS, I’ve been searching for a safe way to travel with my jewelry, but I haven’t found anything I thought would work for me. I’ll shamefully admit I would travel with my jewelry in a ziplock bag. A ZIPLOCK BAG. What a monster. After the new year, Mark & Graham had a sale, so I jumped on it. I cannot wait until travel picks up again, so I can use this bad boy.

Heated Back and Neck Massager | I’ve seen this all over IG for the past couple of months and I finally hit purchase last month. I have terrible neck issues at times and all of this sitting at a computer, sitting on the couch, and just being more stationary than pre-pandemic me has made my neck issues flare up with more regularity. I’ve become a regular at my chiropractor. This massager has helped so much. After a long day “at work” I’ll use this while Brian and I watch TV. It has helped to relieve some of the tight, sore muscles.

Olaplex No. 6 Bond Smoother + Olaplex No. 7 Bonding Oil | 2021 is the year of “Hair Inquiry.” The last couple of years, I’ve focused on skincare, and I do feel like I have that on lock for now. So it’s time to treat my mane with the same respect as my skin and the rest of my body. I started using the bonding oil in the summer of 2020, and this year, I added the bond smoother to damp hair before blowdrying and I am loving the results. My hair feels and looks healthier.

Mooas Cube Timer | Lately, I’ve struggled to concentrate and get things done in a timely manner. I’m blaming it on the lack of diversity in my day - bed, desk, couch, repeat. It takes me way longer to do things these days than I am proud to admit, so I purchased this timer to help. I set the timer and get to work. When it goes off, I get up and do something fun or eat a snack or scroll social media.

Mighty Patch Pimple Patches | Gosh, my face has broken out so much in the last couple of months and these have helped speed the process along of calming a breakout down. I love that you can see these working. It’s gross, but oddly satisfying to watch. I’m not sure it took me so long to give these a try.

Have you tried anything above? What were some of your favorite purchases in January?
