Style Sessions: Black Skinny Pants

A few weeks ago when I asked for feedback on what you want to see styled, someone asked for black pants because this is all they wear to the office and they need to refresh their ideas. When I had an office job with a more than casual dress code, black pants were my go-to, so I can relate to the “meh” feeling you get when building an outfit around them.

I own three different pairs of black pants: these black skinny pants, paper bag pants, and wide-leg pull-on pants (the latter two could stand to be styled again), and when I used to leave the house with more regularity they received a ton of wear. Black pants are a great base to a “uniform” when you just don’t want to think too much about getting dressed.

Look One

I love this look because it mixes so many textures: the sweater, the denim, and the leather. It feels so cozy and not fussy. I recently added these Birdie flats to my closet thanks to my friends, Erin and Adriana, who gifted them to me for my birthday. They are worth the hype. My feet feel like I’m walking on clouds.

Look Two

Black. White. Leopard. I love this combo. It is so easy and I feel like a badass. Honestly, there isn’t much else to say about this look.

Look Three

This will be my look to vote unless my “I’m with Joe and Kamala” sweatshirt gets here in time. I really love a graphic tee, especially this VOTE one. This cozy cardigan is a new addition this fall to my closet and I’ve already worn it countless times.

Look Four

Doubling up on the color in this look with the chambray shirt and olive dispatch jacket. I tucked this shirt in all the way for a different look.

Look Five

Turtlenecks feel kind of ‘90s to me. However, I am excited to incorporate them as a layering piece this fall and winter. I already have a few more ideas in mind. The subtle stripe of this turtleneck provides more interest to what could be kind of a blah look. Additionally, the black booties with the black skinnies elongate the legs. Who doesn’t want to look like they have model long legs?

Look Six

A little “Emily in Paris” moment. I purchased this top last year for my birthday when I saw it in the store and instantly fell in love with its Parisian vibes. It is unlike anything I have in my closet, and I love it for date nights or drinks with friends. These heels are a block heel which seems to be the only thing I can stand wearing now when it comes to heels. Gone are the days of the teeny tiny heels for me.

Another easy combo of black, white, brown, leopard. I wanted to keep this look simple since I added leopard booties and a hat. I truly love this hat but need to wear it more. My favorite hat shop is Goorin Bros. I know they are expensive, but the quality and customer service is incredible.

Jewelry throughout here and here and here. Lipstick throughout here.

What is your favorite pair of black pants you own? Are they a favorite?

xx,

Linds
