Style Sessions: Anine Bing Fishbone Blazer

Over two months ago, I spotted this Anine Bing fishbone blazer (another link here with additional sizes) on Alyson Haley, and the entire look was something I knew I wanted to recreate. I could not stop thinking about this look, but I wasn’t ready to commit to the price tag of the blazer.

I tried multiple dupe options, but each one didn’t fit me the way I wanted it to and I felt like I would have to make concessions to achieve the look. Those are immediate signs to me that a piece doesn't work and isn’t worth my time, energy, and especially money! We have to love it, love it in order for it to stay in the closet.

So after the holidays, I splurged, and then half hoped I would hate it. But it arrived and honestly, is the most perfect blazer I have ever put on. It’s 100% an investment, and the quality truly is there with this piece. It’s such a good piece IMO that it made my December The Good Goods list.

Things I love about this blazer:

  1. It’s oversized, so it fits my broad shoulders better than any other blazer I have tried. I don’t have that tightness across the back when I lift my arms.

  2. The texture is so unique and interesting, and it’s quite warm.

  3. It fills a gap in my closet - I was in need of a blazer to pull some outfits together (and for any future professional needs).

Here are five ways I would wear the Anine Bing Fishbone Blazer.

look one

blazer: here and here // shirt: here and similar // bottoms: similar // shoes: here and similar

Went with a simple white tee, my favorite perfect vintage jeans from Madewell, and mules for this look. Up close the blazer has some camel flecks in it, so I wanted to pick that up with the brown mules. I’d wear this to a casual day at the office or if I wanted to feel a bit more put together to run some errands.

look two

I feel like you can never go wrong with a monochromatic look. For this look, I added a black turtleneck, my black boy jeans, and the Nisolo chelsea boots. Monochromatic looks are for the days when I just can’t think of what to wear and the blazer adds interest.

look three

Went a bit more casual and with a bit of color for this look. Green has taken over my closet in the last year, so this blazer had to work with green in order to stay. The blazer elevates the casualness of this look and pulls it all together so it’s not just a t-shirt and tennis shoes with some holey jeans.

look four

blazer: here and here // shirt: not available // bottoms: here // shoes: here // hat: here

This is my recreation of the look that started the love affair with the blazer in the first place. I love this look, and just want to find a cozy booth in a pub and drink pints with my friends in this look. Or in America, I’d hit up a brewery or Sunday brunch.

look five

And lastly, gotta take this blazer for a spin on a date night, right? I added a textured cami under the blazer, so this look has a ton of interest, and finished the look with my favorite pointy toe block heels to make my legs look extra long.

Overall, I’m glad I took the time to see if I could find a dupe for the blazer just in case something else worked for me. However, this blazer is worth the investment IMO. I know I will have it for years and will get lots of wear out of it.

What is your favorite look? Would you wear this blazer?

xx,

Linds
