Style Sessions: Black Matching Lounge Set
Last week, I shared My Clean Slate Closet inspired by Aimee, @aimeereiff. It consisted of the ten items I would buy again if I woke up one day and my entire closet was gone. And while I kind of cheated and grouped my Brooklinen matching lounge set (top and bottom linked here) as one item, I would buy this set again, and again, and again! It has been the set for me during this crazy year during a pandemic. I can sleep in it, dress it up, watch movies all day in it, or run errands in it. That is a money piece, right? Something that is comfy enough to sleep in, but still looks chic on zoom calls and is acceptable to leave the house in.
Below I am sharing three ways I have worn this matching lounge set since I ordered it last fall. I cannot express how much I love the set, it holds its shape well through weekly washes, and Brooklinen has a great return policy if for some reason you don’t love it or the quality of your piece doesn’t last. The stitching of Brian’s sweatpants started to come undone in the pocket, and Brooklinen sent us a brand new pair. No questions asked

This is how I’ve worn this matching set the most in 2020 and 2021. It’s the definition of Zoom meeting on top, comfies on bottom. Add a pretty necklace, and no one will know you are wearing comfies while you work. Who knew I could feel comfy, cozy, and confident in a matching set of black sweats. Also, these slippers are hands down the best. My feet are always freezing this time of year, and my toes stay toasty in these mocassins.
Look Two

All black everything. Add a leather jacket and a pair of black Chelsea booties, and I feel like a badass in the same matching set. I’ve worn this look to go run a few errands when I want to feel like I put a bit more effort into my appearance, but still want to wear comfies. I love how the texture of the leather plays off the softness of the matching set. And let’s talk about the Nisolo booties. They are amazingly comfortable and like most of their shoes require little to no break-in time. Right out of the box and on to life.
Side note: I ordered the Madewell leather jacket during their sale because I was feeling kind of meh about the leather jacket I already had in my closet. I thought if I liked the Madewell jacket, I could sell my leather jacket to help cover some of the cost. But come to find out this jacket made me fall back in love with the one I already owned. It’s a great piece if you are looking for a leather jacket. I just didn’t need two different leather jackets and didn’t love this one more than the one I already owned.
Look Three

And then my third go-to look with this matching set is kind of sporty chic. Jean jacket + off sneakers. If I was having a bad hair day, I’d toss on this ball cap, too. I feel like this is the kind of soccer mom I would want to be if I was going to be a soccer mom. This look is just comfy and casual which are two words I always come back to when it comes to getting dressed. I don’t want to tug and pull at what I am wearing or worry about anything. This look accomplishes that.
If you’re in the market for a high-quality matching set, I cannot recommend the Brooklinen set enough. I’ve had mine since October or November and it is in the regular rotation of my wardrobe.
What is your favorite look? Do you own a comfy matching set?
