Our Vegas Bucket List
Brian and I have loved our time in Las Vegas so far! We are loving the desert and everything it has to offer (we’re remaining positive regarding the 110 degree days we’re currently experiencing).
This past month, Brian had three weeks off before Fall Camp begins. We took full advantage of me not working full-time yet to spend as much time together and check off a few things on our Las Vegas Bucket List. With that being said, I wanted to share what remains on our bucket list, what we’ve done so far and a few things in the Southwest we’re hoping to see/do with you.
Las Vegas Bucket List
This has been on my Vegas list for quite some time, but I never seem to have time to squeeze it in. We want to see the old neon signs of Vegas while we’re here.
Hike the Trails at Red Rock
We purchased a year pass to Red Rock back in May and have ventured there just under ten times since. I hope to hike as many of the trails as possible. This past weekend we completed Ice Box Canyon and it was truly magical.
Monthly Date Nights at a Great Restaurants
We figure while we are in a city with such amazing restaurants we want to start a monthly date night to make sure we’re checking off
See the Hoover Dam
I’ve seen the Hoover Dam twice in my life. Once as a a seven year old and then again when I was 23. Brian saw it once as a child. We’d like to see it together and experience the new walking bridge on the other side of the dam. This was not there the last time either of us visited.
Explore Fremont Street
I would love to experience a Hot Air Balloon ride while we’re here in Vegas. Honestly, I’d love to experience this most anywhere, but here in Vegas you’ll get fantastic city views and fantastic desert views.
Ski Mt. Charleston
It was probably college the last time I skied. I am so excited to experience life in the desert, but I know I will inevitably miss snow (to a certain extent). I cannot wait to ski at Mt. Charleston if we get lucky with enough snow fall.
Catch a Las Vegas Golden Knights Game
We love hockey. While we were in Athens, we went up to Columbus a couple of times to experience a game. Now that the Knights are in our backyard, we want to experience games here in Vegas.
Southwest Bucket List
Visit the Grand Canyon
I saw the Grand Canyon when I was 12, but I don’t feel like I appreciated it as much as one should when seeing something that breathtaking. Plus, we were only there for a day or two, so it was quick. I’d love to go with Brian and Uly to explore the area.
Visit a State or National Park in Utah
I try to visit a place I’ve never been every year, and I’ve never been to Utah. I’d love to check out one or two of the national parks in the state while we’re so close.
Take Ulysses to the Beach in California
Our sweet pup hasn’t seen the ocean yet, and I truly think it would be the greatest day of his life. The sheer joy it will bring him will make my day for years to come.
Things We’ve Checked Off
Get a Family Photo at the Las Vegas Sign
Tip: get up early to beat the crowds. You’ll thank yourself for not having to wait forever in line.
We loved Mt. Charleston. It was a wonderful way to beat the Vegas heat this summer and it looks and feels like you’re in Northern California. We cannot wait to go back.
Watch the Bellagio Fountains
No photo evidence, but we did this and due to crowds will never do again. Be prepared to finagle the crowds and wait your turn to get a good viewing spot.
Explore the Strip
We got up early one Monday morning and headed to the strip to walk through some of the casinos and see some of the sights without the crowds. It was nice to see so many of the casinos since before this day trip I’d only been in maybe three.
Tip: get up early to beat the crowds. We had the place to our selves and it was definitely magical.
Tip: Sam as number 1 and number 6, get up early to beat the crowds and the heat. We arrived at around 6:30 am to get the majority of the park to ourselves and it was well worth it. As you can tell from the pictures on this blog post.
I might actually add this one back on the list because it was so fun. We want to visit the place again if time allows. We loved it. And we learned a lot of the hotels in Palm Springs are dog friendly, so maybe Uly will get to tag along next time if he’s lucky. To see everywhere we ate, check out my Eats: Palm Springs blog post.
Catch a Las Vegas Aviators Game
We’ve been to three Aviators games this season, and this is the most beautiful minor league park I’ve visited. It has a great view of the mountains and the team does a great job with game-day operations. Be sure the check my Vegas highlights for Finn the bat dog.
Besides the traditional Vegas trip, have you been to Vegas and explored the city beyond the strip? Is there anything I should add to the list?
xx,
Linds
