My P.M. Skincare Routine
Two weeks ago, I shared my AM Skincare Routine, and I wanted to follow it up with my PM Skincare Routine because there are slight variations between the two. I try to use the same products where I can because as I’ve mentioned, skincare is expensive plus space is limited in our house.
I want to also note skincare is so deeply personal and can differ from person to person. I am by no means a dermatologist. This is what has worked for me and I am sharing my personal experience. As always consult your doctor if you have any questions or concerns before using a new product.
cleanse
If I am wearing makeup, I always double cleanse! Once to remove the makeup and once to clean my makeup-free skin. If I haven’t worn makeup (which is most days lately), I only wash once.
To remove makeup, I use Ren Skincare’s Rosa Centifolia™ No.1 Purity Cleansing Balm. This balm is infused with chamomile and rose extract, and it turns into a silky milk when it touches water, melting away dirt and make-up. My skin always feels clean and hydrated. I love how silky smooth it is. Be sure to work this in your hands a bit to warm it up so you don’t pull it across your face too hard. I use this to remove eye makeup as well and I haven’t experienced any irritation.
To wash my face, I use Countertime Lipid Defense Oil Cleanser. I love how easy it is to wash with because one of my main issues is being too rough with my skin. Since this is an oil, it glides over my skin so easily. It is rich in vitamin E, fatty acids, and a plant-derived Retinatural Complex to reinforce the skin’s fragile moisture barrier for a soothed, nourished complexion. The Retinatural Complex is two of the most powerhouse plant-derived ingredients available - Bakuchiol which has been shown to provide skin-care results comparable to retinol—without harmful side effects such as skin irritation and increased sun sensitivity—and Swiss Alpine rose which boosts the skin’s antioxidant defense.
tone
I use the same toner from my AM Skincare Routine - Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic. It is a gamechanger! This toner has helped keep my stress breakouts to a minimum. Hot tip: Hold your bamboo round on a breakout with this tonic to help shrink it a bit more quickly. The toner is formulated with gentle, yet powerful Lactic Acid (AHA), Salicilin (BHA), and Azelaic Acid precursor. This tonic is developed for daily use which is great because I use it in the AM and PM. It brightens skin and brings the glow back to dull, dry, or tired-looking skin. Lactic Acid effectively exfoliates the skin surface, breaking up dead cells and adding hydration, without causing irritation.
Side note: In an effort to be better for the environment, I picked up these bamboo rounds for my skincare routine. They are machine washable.
pimple patches
Recently, I’ve started using Mighty Patch pimple patches whenever I have a breakout. I put them on after I use toner so they are on clean skin and the rest of the skincare isn’t in the way. I’ve found these help speed the process along from the first sighting of the pimple to it no longer being visible.
eye cream
I use the same eye cream from my AM skincare routine - Countertime Ultra Eye Renewal. I wish I had started using eye cream sooner in life. Leave it to my expressive face from giving crows feet at a young age. I put a tiny amount on my ring fingers and lightly tap in a half-moon around the outside of my eyes. This eye cream revitalizes the eye area for a youthful, brighter appearance. A combination of the plant-derived Retinatural Complex mentioned above and Persian silk tree extract reduces the appearance of under-eye shadows and crow’s feet for a smooth, firmed look. This is expensive, but a jar can last me six-plus months.
serum
I alternate between two serums - Counter+ Overnight Resurfacing Peel and Keep Young And Beautiful™ Firming And Smoothing Serum. The Resurfacing Peel should only be used every other night at the most, so I picked up this Firming and Smoothing Serum from Ren Skincare on alternate days.
The leave-on Resurfacing Peel improves skin texture and boosts clarity without irritation or over-drying. With glycolic, malic, and botanically derived lactic acid, the formula clears away dull surface cells, while arginine and essential fatty acids help soothe to reveal a brighter, healthier-looking, renewed complexion. Please don’t let the word acid scare you. Your skin will not peel off. The combo of alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs) works in two steps: 1) resurfacing acids break down the top layer of the skin. 2) a combo of soothing acids rehydrate and replenish the new layer of skin. If I could bathe in this stuff, I would.
The Firming and Smoothing Serum is an advanced lightweight anti-aging serum for all types of skin, designed to hydrate and help firm skin. It is developed to fight the first signs of aging, visibly tone while smoothing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It’s so lightweight and refreshing for my skin.
moisturize + oil
I mix a moisturizer and face oil for extra hydration. I squeeze one pump of the V-Cense Revitalising Night Cream moisturizer and about three or four drops of the Night Magic 300mg CBD Intensive Face Oil in my hand and mix them together before patting it on my face and neck. The moisturizer is formulated to recharge, revitalize, and intensively hydrate the skin overnight while reducing the appearance of fine lines and evening skin tone. While the oil softens, brightens, and hydrates with a blend of botanicals and broad-spectrum hemp extract with naturally occurring CBD. The reviews complained about the smell of this oil, but it doesn’t bother me.
When my skin is crazy dry - think Ohio winters and basically all year in Vegas - I use the Evercalm Overnight Recovery Balm in place of the moisturizer + oil above. I love this moisturizer in the evening when my skin is really needing some extra TLC. It is formulated with lipids from olive, almond borage, and linseed oils that easily absorb into the skin to intensely nourish and moisturize while you sleep when the skin's own regenerative process takes place.
lip balm
Before bed, I slather on lip balm, especially in the winter. Chapped lips are a horrible feeling. Recently, I’ve been using Ilia’s Lip Wrap Clean Hydrating Lip Mask, and I am loving what it has done for my lips. It is a restorative lip mask with active levels of moisture-boosting Salicornia, plumping Hyaluronic Acid, nourishing Antioxidant-rich Mango Butter, and exfoliating Papaya Enzymes.
I have also used Beautycounter’s Lip Conditioner in Peppermint, and I really do love this lip conditioner. It is formulated with soothing and softening avocado oil, shea butter, meadowfoam seed oil, and jojoba oil to nourish and protect lips.
I do want to make it clear I did not go out and buy all of this at once. I know skincare is expensive, so I slowly added things as I could afford them and now I just maintain. Plus, I have found that the more I invest in my skin through skincare, the less I spend on going to the dermatologist or covering up my face.
Do you use any of these products? What are your go-to evening skincare products?
xx,
Linds
