Six Essential Beautycounter Products

Alright y’all, this post really made me think long and hard about my beauty products, specifically my Beautycounter products. I could have easily shared a list of every Beautycounter product I currently use or have used, but I wanted to focus it more on the if-I-was-new-to-Beautycounter-products-what-would-I-buy kind of vibe. I wanted to share the Beautycounter products I cannot live without. You know, the ones I repurchase time and time again and won’t shut up about.

Initially, I was intrigued by Beautycounter shortly before my wedding in 2017. I was approaching my 30s and started to get this feeling when I looked in the mirror that I could do a better job of taking care of my skin. I was itching to get a beauty routine, but I wanted to make sure it was the right one for me.

A little back story here: When I was in college, we were discussing stress in class, and in an assignment, I wrote about my great-grandmother. She was in her 90s then, she’s now 100. She has lost her husband, one of her children, a daughter-in-law, and has just seen so much life, but how is she so full of life and energy and over all great health for her age. She once told me she just doesn't get stressed (still trying to channel that energy), and actively avoids bad things like over-processed anything, chemicals in beauty care, etc. This conversation always stuck with me. So when I went on (and am still on) my skincare journey, I focused on seeking out cleaner or safer products. If I can live to be old and still go to salsa club, golf club, and do all the things my grandmother is able to, I would be happy.

So anyway, I discovered Beautycounter and dug in. I love the company’s transparency, that it is woman-owned and how they continually lobby Congress for better laws and standards. You can read more about Beautycounter here.

Also, I want to note how deeply personal and different skincare can be from person to person. I am by no means a dermatologist or a doctor. This is what has worked for me and I am sharing my personal experience. As always consult your doctor if you have any questions or concerns before using a new product.

The products are listed in order of how I would prioritize purchasing them - moving left to right then down to the next row.

Counter+ Charcoal Facial Mask

Y’all see this on Instagram all the time. I love this mask so much (and so does my husband). We’ve started making it a Sunday family ritual. As Erin Stewart has said, “Couples who mask together, stay together.” Brian also comments on how he feels 10 pounds lighter after using this mask. I love that you can see all of the gunk it pulls out of your pores as it dries. I bought this mask brush set to make sure the product didn’t dry on my hands.

Benefits:

  • Absorbs excess oil

  • Visibly minimizes pores

  • Purifies, detoxifies, and clarifies the complexion

  • Helps calm, refine, and smooth skin

Counter+ Overnight Resurfacing Peel

Gosh, if I could bathe in this I would. It is my favorite way to exfoliate my skin. I use this every other night as my nighttime serum. It’s a leave-on AHA/BHA peel that improves texture and boosts skin clarity without irritation by clearing away dull surface cells to reveal a brighter, healthier looking, renewed complexion. Definitely take it slow with this one if you have more sensitive skin. I only used this once every 3-4 days before I built up to every other night.

Featured Ingredients:

  • Glycolic Acid: improves skin texture, resurfaces, exfoliates.

  • Lactic Acid: stimulates cell renewal promoting a smoother, radiant-looking complexion.

  • Citric Acid: helps refine and renew skin.

  • Arginine & Fatty Acids: aid in conditioning and moisturizing skin.

Counter+ No. 1 Brightening Facial Oil

I didn’t know what my skin was missing until I started adding oil to my daily moisturizer. This citrus-scented oil provides intense hydration, while antioxidant vitamin C helps brighten and even skin tone. I add a couple of drops to my moisturizer and mix them in my hands before pressing the moisturizer and oil into my face. This is another one you want to build up to so your skin can get used to the addition of oil in your routine.

Featured Ingredients:

  • Vitamin C: helps visibly brighten skin.

  • Avocado Oil: rich in vitamins B, D, and E for intense hydration.

  • Black Currant Oil: rich in omegas to help aid in healthy skin barrier function.

Countertime Ultra Renewal Eye Cream

Note to my younger self, start using eye cream as soon as possible as a preventative measure. You have an expressive face, and while we aren’t trying to look expressionless we do want to age gracefully. I tried many eye creams and finally landed on this one that I love. It is so smooth and hydrating. A jar lasts me 6+ months.

Feature Ingredients:

  • Retinatural Complex: Bakuchiol has been shown to provide skin-care results comparable to retinol and Swiss Alpine rose boosts the skin’s antioxidant defense.

  • Persian Silk Tree Extract (Albizia Julibrissin Bark Extract): Brightens the eye area, fades dark circles, diminishes puffiness, and reduces the appearance of crow’s feet.

Countertime Lipid Defense Cleansing Oil

I absolutely love this cleanser. Since it’s an oil cleanser, it glides so easily over my skin which is nice because I have a nasty habit of pulling too hard on my skin. It can be hard to get used to since it doesn’t suds up, but I really love it and have seen a great improvement in my skin since I started using it more than a year ago. Also, my skin doesn’t feel dry and tight after washing.

Featured Ingredients:

  • Retinatural Complex: Bakuchiol has been shown to provide skin-care results that are comparable to retinol and Swiss Alpine rose boosts the skin’s antioxidant defense.

  • Vitamin E and Essential Fatty Acids: Helps to maintain the integrity of the skin’s moisture barrier.

Countercontrol Clear Pore Cleanser

I’m not the best at remembering to exfoliate my face. My body? Yes! But my face gets skipped too often. I started using this after Nora, @purely_nora, recommended washing with it the mornings after the Counter+ Overnight Resurfacing Peel. And I love it. I use it every other time I use the peel. Now my face gets a regular exfoliation without dryness or irritation.

Benefits

  • Effectively removes oil, makeup, and impurities.

  • Gently exfoliates with jojoba beads.

  • Leaves skin feeling balanced.

Have you tried Beautycounter’s products? If so, what are your favorites?

xx,

Lindsae
