Inside My Blogging Conscience
If you've followed along with me on Instagram stories recently, you've seen I'm making moves toward a capsule wardrobe. And I couldn't be more excited about it and what it means for my style, my wallet and my overall getting ready process. But you may be asking yourself why start a capsule wardrobe now? Where is this coming from? How are you going to blog without new stuff all the time?
In January, we purchased a few large pieces of furniture, so I took it rather easy with my purchases in February in an effort to balance things out. When I reflected upon what I purchased in February that wasn’t groceries, food, or items for the dog I landed on four items that continue to bring me joy.
It all started when I noticed a couple bloggers I follow posting clothing items on their social media channels and then listing the same items in their Poshmark closet two weeks later. But yet in their blog post or Instagram caption, it is their "favorite" item ever and they are "obsessed" with it. I struggled to understand how it could be your favorite, but yet you want to sell it. My leather jacket is my favorite item ever and you will never see it in my Poshmark closet.
I understand sharing clothes is a bloggers job and it is the job I aspire to grow into with Just X's And O's, but yet I struggled to feel okay with myself in this new role and how it contributed to how others consumed things and spent their money. I know the feeling of wanting a cute top or new shoes or whatever is being marketed to me on Instagram, but being unable to fit it into my budget and feeling bad about it. Or spending a bit too much (I'm the spender y'all. Brian is the saver) on all this new stuff because I'm "unhappy" with whatever I own and still feeling unhappy with a side of buyer's remorse after purchasing. Neither are good feelings.
Eyebrow Lamination | Earlier in February I had my eyebrows tinted and laminated, and I immediately wondered what the hell I was doing with my eyebrows before this. I went to Lacquer Gallery and saw Leah, @ohio.esthetician. She did an amazing job, and this is something that will be budgeted into my beauty budget moving forward. Gimme all the banging brows.
I'm not 100% sure how to continue to generate new fashion and lifestyle content without constantly bringing in new stuff, but I am on a mission to find out for not only my sanity and budget but for yours as well. I want Just X's And O's to be of value to you. I want this space to help you build a wardrobe you love and helps you always feel stylish no matter the occasion.
Here's to a smaller wardrobe and a clearer conscience.
xx.
