Beyond the Little Black Dress

With the holiday season behind us, we are almost through engagement season. And what follows engagement season?

Bachelorette party season! I’m kidding. I don’t know if that is actually a thing, but usually when a close friend gets engaged, you know there will be some celebrating in your near future.

I am celebrating a friend’s bachelorette party at the end of this month in San Francisco, and I am so excited to spend some time with girlfriends and shower my friend with love. Plus, I’ve never been to the Bay Area before. For the first night on the town, the bride has requested we wear black. Which is great because I love black, but I don’t have a ton of cooler weather black options that have a going out vibe to them.

During this time of year even in the warmer climates, you may not want to wear a little black dress. When I was planning my outfits for the weekend in San Francisco, I knew I wanted to look for an all black outfit that met three criteria: 1) it needed to feel a bit more special than what I wear every day (we are celebrating a dear friend of mine), 2) it needed to keep me warm enough to get from location A to location B, but not be too warm that I would sweat up a storm on the dance floor, and 3) it needed to easily work with my current capsule wardrobe. When I transitioned to a capsule wardrobe, I purged about six black dresses, and I’m still on the hunt for a few key black pieces to add to my closet — black jumpsuit, black blouse, etc. - and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to add what I was missing.

After much searching, I landed on these wrap pants and this top, and I wanted to share some other black options beyond a little black dress for any future bachelorette parties or other events on your schedule in the near future.

xx,

Linds
