Eats: Bozeman

We spent our anniversary and the end of June in the Bozeman, Montana area this year, and we instantly fell in love with the area. The whole trip we couldn’t stop saying how beautiful it is and how in awe we are with the mountains. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to experience nature and disconnect from everyday life.

Since we were there for a week, we made plans to eat some meals out and some meals at our Air BnB. I know there are so many places we need to try whenever we’re back in the Bozeman area. We were pleasantly surprised by the food scene.

This Grill at Sage Lodge

This was our first meal in Bozeman. We are here the night of our anniversary. This restaurant is technically not in Bozeman, but it came up on several lists when I was looking for places to eat in Bozeman. The views here are amazing. We sat outside on the patio to really take it all in. And we felt really taken care of by the amazing staff.

Just thinking about the food here makes my mouth water. Brian got the elk, and I got the bison. The elk was great, but I think the bison was better. We added sides of broccolini and two kinds of mashed potatoes. Everything was so tasty and fresh. Plus, the NA beverages were on point. Finally, the smokin’ s’mores dessert was a perfect way to cap off the dinner.

Sweet Peaks Ice Cream

On our second day in Montana, we ended our exploration of downtown with ice cream from Sweet Peaks. And it was so good, we got ice cream here a second time on our trip. This place is a Montana-founded ice cream shop, and the flavors are so unique.

Blackbird Kitchen

This was THE BEST meal we had all trip, and we saved it for the last night. It came highly recommended by a friend who used to live in Bozeman, and it makes almost every MUST-eat list I came across (and for good reason). You NEED to make a reservation for this place as soon as it opens because it books up. We split the Rigatoni and the Santo. The table seated next to us kept asking us what we ordered. The Rigatoni was amazing, we ordered bread to soak up the remaining sauce. I would eat here again if I ever make it back to Bozeman.

Farmer’s Daughter

We snagged breakfast here on Sunday morning, and surprisingly it was relatively easy to place our order and snag a table. I was worried the place would be so packed. I got the Handsome Scramble as a breakfast bowl, and Brian immediately said he had “order envy.”

Jam! on Main

We ate here on our last full day in town, and the place was poppin’! The Montana State football team was seated a few tables down from us for a team meal. To be honest, this place was good, but I wouldn’t say it is anything to write home about. It’s your basic diner-type breakfast food. The restaurant is located in downtown and even on a weekday is crazy busy.

Red Tractor Pizza

We popped into this restaurant for pizza after our morning exploring the trails on a Polaris RZR. We were covered in mud, but no one seemed to mind. The place was pretty dead around lunch time which made us a bit concerned it wouldn’t be good. However, the pizza was just what we needed after a day on the trails. We ordered the large and had slices leftover for a snack the next day.

Brigade

We were able to snag a last-minute reservation here when we decided we didn’t want to cook dinner at the Air BnB. The food here was good, but the food couldn’t hold a candle to Blackbird or The Grill. However, the mocktail options were delicious. We really enjoyed people-watching during our meal.

Ghost Town Coffee

When we travel, we always try to find local coffee places for a midday pick-me-up. Ghost Town Coffee has two locations in Bozeman. We stopped by both locations a couple of times throughout our trip.

Riverhouse BBQ

I was excited to try this place because it was advertised as Texas BBQ Montana style. The owners are from New Braunfels, but truthfully, I would skip this place. My pulled pork sandwich was mostly fat. Yuck. The vibes were cool and it is located on the Gallatin River so it is a great location, but the food could improve IMO.

If you’re headed to the Bozeman area, you are in store for some yummy meals.

xx,

Linds
